Sixty-four attended the Spring Academy, April 14 at Hendrick House in Urbana. We all had a great day of fire safety activities despite the rain!

Taking it Home!

Fire Factor 14, at FAR and Farmhouse, was another great day for the staff and students. Over 50 attended, and are ready to take it back to their peers. Thanks to Farmhouse, University Housing, and everyone who contributed to our success.

We’d like to thank some of our sponsors for providing food, services, supplies, manpower, and prizes.

Firefighters’ unions from Champaign and Urbana helped with the training exercises and supervision throughout the day.

Hendrick House provided the use of the building and an excellent breakfast and lunch.

F. E. Moran, Inc. and National Fire Sprinkler Association provided the side by side burn. Illini Fire Supply provides fire extinguisher service for the extinguisher exercise.

State Farm and National Fire Sprinkler Association continue to be major financial supporters.

Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, Moms and Dads Association, Congressional Fire Services Institute, and Lowe’s have all made significant cash and merchandise donations.

Through education and practical applications, the Fire Factor Academy is designed to establish a relationship of mutual trust and respect between the University of Illinois, the student leaders of U of I’s housing community, and the Champaign and Urbana Fire Departments; and to impart life-long safety habits.
